Whether you’re looking to advance your existing employment, refine your skills for a potential promotion or start a new career in business and oversee its operations, the Diploma of Business will equip you with a range of transferrable skills to take your career to the next level.

Throughout this qualification, you will learn the fundamentals of planning, establishing and operating a successful business, including delivering on identified customer service needs, utilising marketing opportunities, and understanding how to build a strong team of people through the process of effective recruitment, selection and induction.

Once you’ve completed the Diploma of Business, you’ll be able to use your substantial working experience in a range of settings to further develop your theoretical business skills and knowledge across a wide range of business functions. If you have little or no vocational experience, this course can offer you further educational and employment opportunities across a wide range of industries.

Eligibility Requirements

Education

Whilst there are no formal entry requirements mandated by the training package, students’ skills and capabilities to undertake this training product will be assessed and advice on suitability will be provided during the pre-enrolment process.

Minimum Age

Students under the age of 18 years require the signed consent of a parent or guardian to enrol in this qualification.

Residency Status

You will need to be a permanent Australian resident or equivalent.

In order to complete the online part of the course you will need regular access to the following:

Computer: Laptop or desktop computer with working speakers or headphone points
Internet: High-speed internet such as Broadband or ADSL, T1/T2, fibre optic (Dial-up access is not recommended)

Assist the CEO and leadership team in developing and implementing strategic plans, as well as overseeing day-to-day operations of an organisation.

Program Consultant

Help organisations develop and implement specific accounting programs.

Program Coordinator

Program Coordinators undertake a variety of administrative and program management tasks. You will help in planning and organizing programs and activities as well as carry out important operational duties.

Administration Manager

You are an organised and innate leader and communicator responsible for managing schedules and deadlines, facilitating communications and coordinating procedures.

It covers developing a project plan, administering and monitoring the project, finalising the project and reviewing the project to identify lessons learned for future application. This unit applies to individuals who play a significant role in ensuring a project meets timelines, quality standards, budgetary limits and other set requirements.

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to advise, carry out and evaluate customer service strategies. It applies to individuals who have well developed skills and a broad knowledge of customer service strategies for addressing customer needs and problems, and who may provide guidance or delegate work related tasks to others.

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to manage the ongoing relationship with a customer, including assisting the customer to articulate their needs, meeting customer needs and managing networks to ensure customer needs are addressed. The customer relationship would typically involve direct interaction a number of times over an extended period.

Manage recruitment, selection and induction processes

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to manage all aspects of recruitment selection and induction processes, in accordance with organisational policies and procedures. It applies to individuals or human resource personnel who take responsibility for managing aspects of selecting new staff and orientating those staff in their new positions. It is not assumed that the individual will be directly involved in the selection processes themselves, although this may well be the case.

It applies to individuals who are Human Resource Managers or staff members with a role in a policy or planning unit that focuses on workforce planning.

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to identify, evaluate and take advantage of marketing opportunities by analysing market data, distinguishing characteristics of possible markets and assessing viability of changes to operations. It applies to individuals working in a supervisory or management role within a marketing team, advertising team or media organisation.

This unit describes skills and knowledge required to manage risks in a range of contexts across an organisation or for a specific business unit or area in any industry setting. It applies to individuals who are working in positions of authority and are approved to implement change across the organisation, business unit, program or project area. They may or may not have responsibility for directly supervising others.

There are no prerequisites for entry into this course.
