The heartwarming reason Nasrin was captivated by a career in Dental

Dental

Foundation Education Trainer & Assessor, Nasrin, knew that she wanted to work in Dental from an early age.

There was no doubt about it – she was ‘captivated by the art and science of oral health,’ as she puts it. It's not often you’ll hear that a young person wants to work in Dental when they grow up, especially as many kids tend to fear visits to the Dentists’ clinic.

So what was it about a career in Dental that grabbed Nasrin’s interest? The answer is a heartwarming one, and shows the level of dedication she puts into his work.

‘From a young age… the idea of making a positive impact on people’s lives through dental care became my driving force.’

In 2017, Nasrin followed her interest and started working as a Dental Assistant, and since then she’s gained extensive experience in all aspects of dental assisting. This has given her the ability to do what’s really at the heart of it all — to blend expertise with compassion.

‘What I love most about working in a dental clinic is the deep sense of fulfilment that comes from making a tangible difference in people's lives,’ she shares.

‘Building trust and rapport with patients, helping them overcome dental challenges, and witnessing their transformed smiles is incredibly gratifying.’

Although every day presents new challenges, new stories and new patients to care for, there’s one instance that has stayed with Nasrin throughout her career. It involves helping one young nervous patient get through their hesitations about going to the dentist.

‘They were initially quite anxious about dental visits. Through patience, empathy, and gentle care, we gradually helped this individual overcome their fear.’

This memory is so strong, Nasrin says, because ‘it serves as a powerful reminder of the difference we can make in people's lives as dental professionals.’

Nasrin’s transition to educating

Nasrin explains that throughout her career, she’s gotten the chance to work alongside both ‘novice and seasoned dentists’, giving her some highly ‘valuable insights into the nuances of dental industry training.’  Which is perhaps part of the reason why two years ago, she decided it was time to start sharing her expertise with aspiring dental professionals.

‘Over the years, I developed a passion for educating and mentoring individuals entering the field.’

She now works with us at Foundation Education, where she’s spent the last two years inspiring newcomers with her infectious enthusiasm for dental care. Working as a trainer with students online, Nasrin describes how her own experience has become a great advantage for their learning journeys.

‘By offering a combination of practical insights, theoretical knowledge, and real-world advice, I help them develop the skills, confidence, and professional mindset necessary for success.’

And as Nasrin describes what she loves about the job, it’s proven to be a step in the right direction for her career.

‘Guiding students from novice learners to competent, confident dental professionals is incredibly fulfilling.’

After two years as a Trainer and Assessor, she’s witnessed first-hand why it’s so important for Dental Assistants and Practice Managers to get qualified. Between enhancing credibility, employability, and raising the quality of care, to Nasrin, it’s an obvious choice to obtain a nationally recognised qualification in Dental Assisting or Practice Management.

‘It provides validation of one’s expertise… It ensures that individuals are up-to-date with current best practices and standards, crucial for delivering high-quality patient care. Moreover, it often leads to career advancement opportunities and higher earning potential.’

If you’re someone who’s playing with the idea of becoming a Dental Assistant or Practice Manager, her best piece of advice is to develop skills that help you make patients feel comfortable and well looked after.

‘My advice to the student would be, to develop excellent communication skills, empathy, and patience, as they are crucial for effective patient care.’

And even though Nasrin admits that ‘online studies can be challenging’, her impression of Foundation Education goes to show the difference it makes when there are amazing staff and teachers just a phone call away, ready to lend a helping hand.

‘Foundation Education's dedication to individualised student support stands out. From experienced trainers and assessors to a robust support system, students receive guidance at every step of their journey.’
