Learn how to assist teachers and support student learning in a range of classroom settings

This qualification reflects the role of workers who assist teachers and support student learning in a range of classroom settings. They complete general administrative as well as operational tasks to support students with learning under the guidance of a teacher or other educational professional. Work requires the use of discretion and judgement within the boundaries of established policies and procedures. Education support workers work mainly with students in classroom settings in primary or secondary schools, as defined by State/Territory legislation.

 

Course Outcomes

Once you’ve completed your CHC30221 Certificate III in School Based Education Support, you’ll be able to complete general administrative and operational tasks to support students with learning under the guidance of a teacher or other educational professional.

Delivery Mode

  • Full Auspice - Auspice available Australia-wide but only in non-government schools in Western Australia and South Australia

Eligibility Requirements

Education

Whilst there are no formal entry requirements mandated by the training package, students’ skills and capabilities to undertake this training product will be assessed and advice on suitability will be provided during the pre-enrolment process.

Minimum Age

Students under the age of 18 years require the signed consent of a parent or guardian to enrol in this qualification.

Residency Status

You will need to be a permanent Australian resident or equivalent.

Assessment items

Assessments may include a range of assessments including quizzes, knowledge questions, case studies, workplace projects and observations.

Special Conditions

Students must apply for their Working with Children check at course commencement. For mandatory work placement (100 hours), students must have access to a classroom environment catering to primary or secondary school students, within at least one school in Australia, AND access to a qualified teacher who is employed at the school.

Education environments may include:

  • Government school (pre-primary, primary and secondary)
  • Private/non-government school (pre-primary, primary and secondary)
  • Education centre
  • Special educational centre
  • Community educational centre.

Under an auspicing arrangement, this may require the trainer and assessor to complete direct observations within the workplace learning environment or as required in the online delivery, may require recordings to be undertaken as evidence. Where required, we may assist in supporting a work placement location of your choosing. There is a high workload of documentation to be completed within the course and where possible, recommendation of the use of electronic signatures may be used to promote sustainable outcomes.

Work Placement

Students need to undertake 100 hours of work placement to complete the qualification.

Payment Options

Course Cost:

  • Online: $999 per student enrolment
  • Auspice: $249 per student enrolment

Additional Auspice Cost: A $999.00 fee applies to schools entering into auspicing agreements to cover the cost of administration, compliance checks, approvals, My Class and reporting setups, systems setups for school access and marking, validation and maintenance activities
