Keep your office calm over Christmas
In the mad rush to tie up loose ends and finish projects before taking a few days of well-needed rest, Christmas time can often equal chaos in the workplace.
Stress outs and burnouts can take their toll, and without putting the right steps in place, you can end up buried under a to-do list that will drag into the New Year.

It’s always ideal to finish every scrap of work you have left before taking your Christmas break – but more often than not, it’s unrealistic. So, plan ahead accordingly. Make a list of tasks or jobs that need to be completed before you take a break, and decide which of these need to go to the top of the list. Ensure you’re adhering to your deadlines, and more importantly, making sure you’re not placing unrealistic deadlines or demands on others in order to get your work complete. You’re capable of achieving much more when you keep reality in check.
Clean it up
Take some time out to clean up your desk before the New Year rolls in. Get rid of – or file – the papers that are piled up on your desk, and remove all of the unnecessary files that are taking up space on your computer. Coming back to a clean and organised space will make you feel ready to tackle what waits in the New Year.
Make your workplace fun
It’s easy to get burdened with stress over the amount of work you may have going on – so balance it out by adding some fun to the workplace. Decorate your desk with decorations or pictures of loved ones, organise a secret Santa draw for your workplace, or make a time for a work Christmas lunch or after work drinks.
Enjoy your time off
Finally, once you’ve clocked out for Christmas – enjoy it. Don’t spend time compulsively checking your emails or stressing about what you’ve left behind to do. Clear your head and relax, enjoy the festive season with family and friends, and return to work feeling refreshed and ready for a happy and healthy 2019.
