As parents, we want to keep our kids off mobile phones, tablets, and laptops as much as we can. But we all do it just to get some peace while we try to make dinner or clean the house or update an online business. Or just watch TV and chill for an hour!
Today, we bring the best learning apps for kids to you. Apps that offer some ways to get the kids on the phone or tablet without the guilt and additionally, have the added benefit of the kids learning something new.
Learning App 1: Go foreign with Duolingo
A lot of us adults go our entire lives knowing just one language so why not get the kids on a multi-lingual path nice and early?
Duolingo is completely free to download and use and comes with a real international flavour – French, Italian, German, Spanish, and even Irish!
On top of that, your kids can work on their English while they master a new language.
Learning App 2: Make Maths fun with DragonBox
Let’s face it, maths can be as much fun as falling off a swing for a lot of us, including adults, yet there are fundamentals that, if grasped, can make a difference as life goes on.
So if your child is one of those kids who regards numbers with suspicion, you might want to make Maths fun before they decide it’s not by turning their attention to DragonBox.
This isn’t a free app – there are nominal upfront payments for the 5 math-based games on offer – but no nasty surprises from there.
Why is this app good? Well, it teaches anything from algebra to geometry in ways that are entertaining and easy for kids to relate to.

Learning App 4: Learn to spell with Spelling Stage
Well, let’s face it, the digital world is our new stage and it’s a slightly better world if we know how to spell words that matter to us in our online interactions.
And no, we’re not saying that’s a good thing – kids need to get outside, run, jump and climb trees as much as they can. But, whether we like it or not, keypads and keyboards are the mouths of today’s generation.
The better they can spell, the more confident they’ll be and Spelling Stage makes learning to spell interesting and a little bit easier.
Spelling Stage isn’t free, but its spelling platforms are worth considering for anyone from preschoolers to adults.
